The Core Skills lesson is an eye opener for most people as many completely under-estimate the power that a small foil kite can generate. It is also the first part of our Beginner Kitesurfing Course.
This 3 hour land based lesson will teach you how to set up, launch and fly a foil kite using all power ranges safely and in total control.
AIM: By the end of the lesson we aim to get you completely in control of your foil kite, be able to set up launch and land and be ready to go the water on our Step 2 – SLE Kite starter lesson. This lesson will also give you the Flying skills to learn to Pilot a Kite Buggy.
Now that you have passed your Core flying skills we can teach you how to fly the bigger more powerful SLE Kitesurfing kites in preparation for board start. This 4 to 5 hour * intensive lesson shows you how to use and implement safety systems, water re launch, pack down your kite and create traction by “body dragging”.
These skills are harder than you might think but they are huge fun to learn.
AIM: By the end of the day we aim to get you to a level where you can pass your BKSA level 1 test and have the skills in order to join Step 3 and the advanced techniques of water balance and water start.
Kitesurfing Lesson: Step 3 – Water start
Today’s 4 to 5 hour * lesson is all about teaching you the more advanced skills to keep you balanced in the water, and how to get your feet into the board straps so that you can water start. If you are an excellent student you may well stand up and Kite surf a short distance, most stand up and fly over the front either way all are grinning to Cheshire cat standards!
AIM – By the end of the lesson we aim to perfect your flying skills, the techniques of water start and have passed on invaluable condition knowledge to keep you safe so that you ultimately can practise on your own.
The best way for you guys to see how good we are is from student testimonials so here are a few random ones and a link to our KITESURFING LESSON TESTIMONIALS blog where you can read some more.

There are a few Kitesurfing schools in Sussex and what makes JB Kitesurfing different from others and Just Brilliant is that we understand how you learn, reflect the right teaching method for you which in turn gives you a real kitesurfing experience.
Our instructors have a huge portfolio of Kitesurfing conditions, Kitesurfing, teaching hours, lesson plans and relative sports such as paragliding, windsurfing, snowboarding and mountain biking, basically we give you an unparalleled Kitesurfing lesson or complete Kitesurfing course at whatever stage your at.
We have devised our own modules based on BKSA / IKO that give us the spectrum to teach you the right way for your learning ability and the local condition which in itself is priceless.
If we could teach every day that would be Just Brilliant but we don’t as our lesson times are based around the optimum window for tides and beach safety therefore for those that book in you can be guaranteed a first class kitesurfing instruction and best of practice.

Like most popular kite beaches Shoreham Beach has a dedicated Kite Zone that covers an area 100 meters either side of the roundabout located on the junction of Shingle road and Old Fort Road.
During the winter months we generally have most of the beach to our selves and so can rig and launch where you like. However, the kite zone is by far the safest location to rig, ride and land as there is no rocks, no groynes and no hidden dangers and all along the rest of the beach there are these dangers. So it is advisable to stick to the zone by the roundabout
Shoreham is a south facing beach so the following wind directions work;
South East – Side on from the left
Southerly – On Shore
South West – Side shore from the right (this wind direction is best)
Shoreham works best on a south westerley and 2 to 3 hours before and after low tide.
